Right before my father died, he shared with me that he wished he had focused more on doing the things that he'd always wanted to do in his life, but had been waiting until after he retired. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire when he was already too ill to do the things he'd imagined doing. His last words to me were "I thought I'd have more time. There were so many places I wanted to go and things I wanted to do."

That was a pivotal moment for me. I took a hard look at my life and realized I'd been doing the same thing. It looked different, but there was a way I was still waiting until certain parameters were met before I could give myself permission to be happy and make decisions in accordance with my deepest truth.  As I took stock, I realized I felt out of alignment with what I fundamentally wanted out of life. In fact, I wasn't even sure I knew what I wanted anymore.

Today, I am living in accordance with what makes me feel truly happy and fulfilled. My life feels rich in meaning and purpose and I am clear about what I want for the present and the future.
